Deadpool series actor Rob Delaney’s young son, Henry, died in 2018 from a brain tumor when he was only two years old. Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds wasn’t able to put a tribute to Henry in Deadpool 2, but he fulfilled that wish with Deadpool & Wolverine, and now Reynolds has spoken more about it.

“There’s more to Rob Delaney than some realize. He’s one of the most subversively funny people I know. He’s a beautiful, acerbic, and vulnerable writer,” Reynolds said on Instagram. “If you stayed through the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine, you might notice a credit saying, ‘For Henry Delaney.’ Henry is Rob’s son. And Rob lost his little boy to a brain tumor in 2018. Right as we finished Deadpool 2.”

Fangoria Studios has announced that it’ll be teaming up with Through the Lens Entertainment to bring three of Junji Ito’s manga horror stories to the big screen: Bloodsucking Darkness and The Mystery of the Haunted House Part 1 and Part 2. Fangoria is aiming to “redefine the horror and manga experience” by staying as true to the source material as possible and will work alongside Ito on these new films. It also wants these projects to balance Japanese nuance and the sensibilities of “innovative” horror to create a “new cinematic experience” for fans.

Starting July 15, Google will revise its Google Ads policies for daily fantasy sports (DFS) operators and lottery couriers, enabling them to run advertisements across a wide array of US states, according to the July 2024 updates to Google’s Gambling and games policy.

A movie based on the video game Sleeping Dogs was in the works for years, but it’s apparently no longer moving ahead. Actor Donnie Yen (Ip Man, John Wick, Rogue One) was announced as the lead years ago, and he’s now confirmed the momentum there once was to make the movie happen has stalled.

“I spent a lot of time and did a lot of work with these producers, and I even invested some of my own money into obtaining the drafts and some of the rights,” Yen told Polygon. “I waited for years. Paramount has big plans for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise, as producer Toby Ascher has said the idea is to create a “Sonic cinematic universe.” Ascher said this in the production notes for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Ascher, who also produced the 2020 original Sonic the Hedgehog film, said (via VGC), “We’re creating a Sonic cinematic universe, so we knew we were going to add characters, like Tails and Knuckles; new to the films but beloved by gamers all over the world.”

Earlier this year, Paramount and Sega announced a third Sonic feature film alongside a new live-action Sonic TV show to air in 2023. Nothing is known about the third movie, but Paramount and Sega confirmed that the TV series for Paramount+ will focus on Knuckles, with Idris Elba voicing the character.

Halo Infinite Forge creator Blupe Vave has published a work-in-progress multiplayer map called Crumbling Lands, recreating one of the last dungeons from FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, Crumbling Farum Azula. I can’t think of two game aesthetics much more distinct than Halo and Elden Ring, and yet this map looks incredible. It’s so authentic to Elden Ring, my first instinct was to assume that Blupe Vave had actually imported a pile of Elden Ring assets into Halo Infinite somehow.

But nope: it just shows how much you can do with the Forge mapmaking tool, if you have the skill and patience to pull it off.

The big beta news of the day is the surprise “server slam” for Diablo 4, an open-for-all test set to run May 12-14. But if you’re looking for something different to do, the upcoming World War 2 RTS Men of War 2 is also having an open beta over that very same weekend.

The Men of War 2 open beta will feature three singleplayer missions: The Battle of Coisson, which sees the US 68th Motorized Infantry Battalion launch a mission to re-establish contact with the artillery gunners of Company H; Towards Freedom, in which a squad of scouts and NKVD special forces attempt to destroy a German camp and rescue prisoners; and Ambush, a German mission that has elements of the 30th Panzergrenadier Regiment attempting to keep US reinforcements from reaching the front lines.

According to a report from cyberdaily.au, Insomniac Games, the studio behind the Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank games, has been hacked by a ransomware group. The group, who call themselves Rhysida, provided proof that included a screenshot of Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game as well as character art for various Marvel-owned characters.

More concerningly the hack also includes scans of passports belonging to both current and former Insomniac employees. They include a personal document belonging to voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, who provides the voice of Spider-Man in Insomniac’s games. Internal emails and other confidential documents were also part of the hack.

Info unearthed by SteamDB’s Pavel Djundik in March pointed to a significant Steam update in the works, one that would include a way for players to take their own “game notes” as well as changing the way notifications work. Valve has now officially announced those features, and several more, pushing them live in the current Steam client beta.

As Valve’s Steam desktop update explains, the in-game overlay has been overhauled “completely”. The famed dwarf-em-up dynasties sim Dwarf Fortress has been enjoying something of a second wind ever since its release on Steam, with its creators finally receiving plenty of richly deserved mountain gold and hunkering down to a regular update cycle for the ‘new’ release. Dwarf Fortress being Dwarf Fortress, it gets some pretty good patch notes. And today’s theme is babies.

The baby update brings “sprites for children and babies for many of the creatures and outdoor plants. Stalker 2’s long journey to launch has once again been extended, unfortunately. The last delay pushed it back to September, and while GSC Game World seemed pretty confident that it could hit that at the time, technical issues have necessitated another one, this time to November 20.

Sony confirmed in December 2022 that the previously-PS5 exclusive Returnal would be released for PC in early 2023, and it wasn’t kidding: Today it announced that the sci-fi roguelike will finally come our way on February 15.

The Returnal launch date comes alongside more information about a range of PC-specific features that have been added to the game, including support for Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, and Nvidia Image Scaling.
